This week we’re celebrating Zero Waste Week. Whether you’re a recycling beginner or seasoned pro, an individual or business owner, there are plenty of reasons for everyone to get involved.
Last year in west London we disposed of 576,000 tonnes of rubbish and sent 15% of that straight to landfill. The good news is this represented a 68% decrease of waste sent to landfill from the previous year. We’re working hard as an organisation to keep decreasing the amount of waste sent to landfill but we also need help from all our residents to continue reducing their own waste at home.
Zero Waste Week not only encourages everyone to do their part to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill but also to look at ways you could reduce generating any waste in the first place. From choosing less packaging to using reusable products, there are lots of ideas hints and tips out there that all of us can use – even if you only pledge to do ‘ONE’ thing.
Two weeks ago we gave you some ideas you could try and this is the week to put them in practice! You can make a pledge now to reduce your waste and join hundreds of other people in making a positive impact on the environment and on your budget.
During Zero Waste Week this year, our Waste Minimisation Team we will be out promoting lots of waste reducing hints, tips and ideas at events all this week. Check out the list below or check our events page.
